Identify what is inside the generator set

The Olympian set identification and the installed engine identification are both useful. Photograph both tags and include any service records. If the engine is identified as Perkins, Caterpillar or another manufacturer, provide those numbers rather than choosing a replacement from the generator name alone.

Rebuild the engine around its working duty

Share the rated output, operating speed and whether the generator serves standby or regular duty. Tell us the actual fuel type and any conversion or repower history. These details belong alongside the mechanical diagnosis when we review the build.

Define the supplied engine assembly

Show the drive connection, flywheel housing, mounts, cooling equipment and accessories. Ask which components transfer and which are included in the quote. Your generator technician should identify the supporting systems needing inspection or repair before return to service.

Coordinate the repair and delivery

Tell us whether the engine has been removed and what work your local service team will handle. Confirm engine acceptance, machining scope, parts, core terms, freight and schedule before transport. Generator electrical repairs, controls, field service and commissioning are separate unless specifically included in writing.

A useful quote starts here

Send the engine tag and equipment details.

  1. Olympian generator-set model, serial number and rating plate; installed engine manufacturer, model, serial and specification numbers.

  2. Actual fuel, rated output and operating speed, engine hours, working schedule and previous engine replacement records.

  3. Failure diagnosis, mounting and coupling photos, components to reuse, removed-engine or complete-set status and freight location.

Compare the whole job.

Assembly & scope

Confirm the machining, internal components, external equipment and test or commissioning responsibilities in writing. Engine work and complete-machine repair are different scopes.

Core & freight

Confirm whether exchange is required and whether a deposit is included or separate. A core must match the purchased engine and be rebuildable to receive credit. Freight and unloading arrangements are confirmed for the order.

Schedule & warranty

Agree on the build or supply schedule and the written coverage for your exact order. Inspection, parts availability and confirmed scope affect timing. Review the oil, maintenance and warranty requirements before use.

Questions before you commit

Can the generator rating alone identify the replacement engine?

No. Include the generator and installed engine tags, actual fuel and prior replacement history. A kW rating or similar-looking set does not establish the engine configuration.

Can my generator service company coordinate with Big 3?

Include the technician's diagnosis and the work they plan to handle in your inquiry. We can discuss the supplied engine and handoff so the written quote makes each responsibility clear.

Can I order from the model name alone?

No. The engine tag and equipment tag identify different parts of the application. Include both, along with fuel and operating details.

Is every engine shown ready to ship?

No. A guide describes an inquiry path. Current stock, build acceptance, price and lead time are confirmed for your specific order before payment.

Can you handle a natural-gas engine?

Yes. Big 3 builds natural-gas engines for industrial applications. Send the engine and equipment identification, fuel-system details and operating requirements for a build-specific quote.

Does this include the whole machine or site work?

The engine build is the starting scope. Removal, installation, generator electrical work, pump work, field service and commissioning are included only if specifically agreed in your quote.
