Engine Rebuilds for Generac Generators

A generator problem needs a clear diagnosis before an engine is ordered. Big 3 handles industrial engine rebuild inquiries for Generac equipment. Start with both the generator identification and the engine installed inside it, then tell us what the inspection found.

Read the engine tag as well as the generator tag

Send both identification plates and a clear photo of the assembly. The name on the enclosure identifies the equipment; we also need the actual engine manufacturer and specification. Include replacement or repower records if the original engine is no longer installed.

Separate engine failure from a generator fault

Tell us the mechanical findings already confirmed by your technician. A no-start or shutdown can involve supporting systems as well as the engine. Include diagnosis of the fuel, cooling and controls so the rebuild request addresses the work actually needed.

Fuel, duty and parts to transfer

Identify the fuel used and the set's normal operating schedule. Photograph the coupling, cooling connections, mounts and accessories. We review which components are supplied with the engine and which remain the responsibility of the generator service team.

Engine rebuilding with a defined handoff

Big 3 confirms engine acceptance and the build scope individually. This inquiry does not automatically include alternator repair, transfer switches, site electrical work or commissioning. Agree on the engine assembly, receiving arrangements, freight, schedule and warranty before sending equipment.

A useful quote starts here

Send the engine tag and equipment details.

  1. Generator model, serial number and rating plate, plus the installed engine make, model, serial and specification numbers.

  2. Actual fuel type, operating speed, rated output, run hours and standby or regular-use duty; include any previous engine replacement.

  3. Engine diagnosis, overall and tag photos, parts your installer plans to reuse, location and required return-to-service date.

Assembly & scope

Confirm the machining, internal components, external equipment and test or commissioning responsibilities in writing. Engine work and complete-machine repair are different scopes.

Core & freight

Confirm whether exchange is required and whether a deposit is included or separate. A core must match the purchased engine and be rebuildable to receive credit. Freight and unloading arrangements are confirmed for the order.

Schedule & warranty

Agree on the build or supply schedule and the written coverage for your exact order. Inspection, parts availability and confirmed scope affect timing. Review the oil, maintenance and warranty requirements before use.

Questions before you commit

Do you service every Generac product?

This page is for industrial generator engine inquiries, not a promise of coverage for every portable or residential product. Send the generator and engine identifiers so we can confirm whether the engine build is a fit.

Are you quoting a complete replacement generator?

The starting scope is the engine. A written quote identifies the assembly and any accepted supporting work. Big 3 is an independent engine builder, not a claim of Generac dealer or warranty-service authorization.

Can I order from the model name alone?

No. The engine tag and equipment tag identify different parts of the application. Include both, along with fuel and operating details.

Is every engine shown ready to ship?

No. A guide describes an inquiry path. Current stock, build acceptance, price and lead time are confirmed for your specific order before payment.

Can you handle a natural-gas engine?

Yes. Big 3 builds natural-gas engines for industrial applications. Send the engine and equipment identification, fuel-system details and operating requirements for a build-specific quote.

Does this include the whole machine or site work?

The engine build is the starting scope. Removal, installation, generator electrical work, pump work, field service and commissioning are included only if specifically agreed in your quote.
