A Kohler generator tag identifies the set; also send the identification from its installed engine. If the engine carries a different manufacturer name, include it. This keeps the quote tied to the actual engine rather than an assumption based on the enclosure.

Confirm fuel and working duty

Tell us the actual fuel used, the equipment rating and its normal operating schedule. Include the existing fuel-system and control identification and any conversion history. We review the requested configuration before defining the engine assembly.

Engine work and the rest of the equipment

Describe the diagnosis and whether you need a removed engine rebuilt or help reviewing a replacement assembly. Alternator repairs, electrical controls, fuel-system work and commissioning are separate scope items. Identify what your installer will inspect and reuse.

Confirm model acceptance and the assembly to send before arranging freight or a visit. Big 3 will define the accepted machining, parts and build work in the quote, along with core terms, schedule and warranty. Share the required completion date so the plan fits your operation.

A useful quote starts here

Send the engine tag and equipment details.

  1. Engine model, serial number and specification numbers from the identification tag, plus any prior replacement or conversion records.

  2. Generator or equipment make/model and serial number, actual fuel type, operating rating and standby or regular-use schedule.

  3. Failure diagnosis, run hours if known, components to transfer, delivery ZIP and the work you need included.

Assembly & scope

Confirm the machining, internal components, external equipment and test or commissioning responsibilities in writing. Engine work and complete-machine repair are different scopes.

Core & freight

Confirm whether exchange is required and whether a deposit is included or separate. A core must match the purchased engine and be rebuildable to receive credit. Freight and unloading arrangements are confirmed for the order.

Schedule & warranty

Agree on the build or supply schedule and the written coverage for your exact order. Inspection, parts availability and confirmed scope affect timing. Review the oil, maintenance and warranty requirements before use.

Questions before you commit

Is this a lawn-equipment or small-engine repair page?

This page is for industrial generator and equipment engine inquiries. Send the exact engine and application first; acceptance is confirmed individually rather than promised for every Kohler product.

Can I order by the generator model number alone?

Send both the generator identification and the installed engine identification, along with the fuel type and any replacement history. We use those details to review the assembly and repair scope.

Can I order from the model name alone?

No. The engine tag and equipment tag identify different parts of the application. Include both, along with fuel and operating details.

Is every engine shown ready to ship?

No. A guide describes an inquiry path. Current stock, build acceptance, price and lead time are confirmed for your specific order before payment.

Can you handle a natural-gas engine?

Yes. Big 3 builds natural-gas engines for industrial applications. Send the engine and equipment identification, fuel-system details and operating requirements for a build-specific quote.

Does this include the whole machine or site work?

The engine build is the starting scope. Removal, installation, generator electrical work, pump work, field service and commissioning are included only if specifically agreed in your quote.
